Uganda will take on Egypt today at 22:00 hours in a battle to determine who finishes top of group A at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Egypt is top of group A with six points, just two points above second-placed Uganda. A win for Cranes against the Pharaohs will send them top of the table.
It will be an enthralling match as both sides have arguably been a threat in front of goal recording at least a goal in each of their two group games at this year’s tournament.
Uganda who has made a strong start to this year’s Afcon campaign can now boast six games without a defeat if all goes well against the Pharaohs.
Proving sturdy in defence, the Cranes have also kept four clean sheets in that sequence and conceded just two goals overall with both being equalisers after they had taken the lead.
Appropriately tournament favourites Egypt who also looks good value for the title after their two wins have proven apt at taking the lead and thereafter shutting out their opponents.
They have as well registered eight wins in their last ten fixtures with one draw and a loss. Five of those eight wins were to nil.
Notably, the Pharaohs have been the kings of this fixture winning ten of their eleven meetings against the East African based side. The previous three head to head matches between the two sides has finished by the same slender 1-0 scoreline.
Emmanuel Okwi who netted Uganda’s winner against Egypt in 2017 is the player to mark for the Pharaohs. He also has two goals in his first two AFCON games.
Egyptian superstar Mohammad Salah continues his blistering form having scored his 40th goal across all competitions for the North Africa based side.
