CECAFA 2019: KCCA FC wins 5-1 in a test match against ProLine

KCCA FC registered a 5-1 win over Proline FC in a test game between the two sides that was played on 3rd July 2019 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo ahead of the CECAFA Kagame Club Championship in Rwanda.

Allan Okello, Saddam Juma, Mike Mutyaba, Achai Herbert and Jackson Nunda were all on target for the Uganda Premier League champions while Ivan Bogere scored Proline’s consolation goal.

With only a few days left to kick start the tournament in Rwanda that starts on July 6th till July 20th, both teams named their star-studded line ups for proper preparations.

KCCA FC and Proline are the two teams representing Uganda at this year’s campaign and both teams will be looking to be in their best form to compete.

The Lugogo boys will go into this year’s championship with a huge motivation being the defending champions of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

As well, Proline FC who are at their greatest peak won the FUFA Big league together with the Stanbic Uganda Cup to earn a place in their first ever continental football tournament.

KCCA won this tournament way back in 1978 and their last featuring was in 2015 when they finished third whereas their counterparts Proline will be looking to play at their debut tournament.

Meanwhile, KCCA is in group B together with defending champions, Azam of Tanzania, Mukura Victory of Rwanda and Bandari of Kenya

Proline is in group C together with APR of Rwanda, Green Buffaloes of Zambia and Heegan of Somalia.

There are 16 clubs participating in this championship and two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals.

Group A – Rayon sports (Rwa), TP Mazembe (DRC), KMC (Tan) and Atlabara (S.Sudan)-KIGALI

Group B – Azam (holders, Tan), Mukura Victory (Rwa), Bandari (Ken) and KCCA (Uga)- Huye

Group C – APR (Rwa), Green Buffaloes (Zam), Proline (Uga) and Heegan (Som)- Kigali

Group D -Gor Mahia (Ken), DC Motema Pembe (DRC), KMKM ( Zan) and AS Ports (DJI)-Rubavu.
