Britam Join 2023 NSSF Kampala Hills Run

Eleven additional companies from various sectors have partnered with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) for the 2023 NSSF Kampala Hills Run, bringing the total number of partners to 22 since the run’s launch a week ago.

Contributing to the cause, Centenary Bank donated shs20m, Britam Insurance provided shs6m, Uganda Clays contributed shs10m, Citi bank offered shs5m, Prudential Uganda contributed shs10m, Kampala Capital City Authority donated shs5m, and Galaxy fm provided shs50m in kind. Other partners include the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) with a contribution of shs5m, Kampala Associated Advocates with shs5m, Interswitch with USD1000, and Standard Chartered Bank with shs5m.

Barbra Arimi, the NSSF Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs, expressed her delight while receiving contributions from select partners at Workers House. She stated, “It is great to see many corporate organizations heeding to the Fund’s call to support the future leaders through this initiative. Having these many partners on board for this cause affirms the Fund’s commitment to mobilizing Ugandans to raise a total of shs1bn for this noble cause.”

Utilization of Proceeds

The proceeds from the run will be utilized to improve learning conditions in public primary schools nationwide. The funds will be allocated towards refurbishment, sanitation improvements, and the provision of digital labs.

Partnership and Contributions

During the handover of their contribution, Beatrice Lugalambi, Centenary Bank’s General Manager Corporate Communication & Marketing, expressed the bank’s honor in partnering with NSSF for this run and highlighted its potential to transform schools in the community. Centenary Bank contributed shs20m towards this cause.

Housing Finance Bank is the official partner of the 2023 edition, making a significant contribution of shs150m. NBS Sport, part of Next Media Group, is the official media partner, while Crown Beverages Limited, through its water brand Aquafina, is the official drinking water provider. Uganda Red Cross Society is the run’s First Aid partner, and Uganda Athletics Foundation serves as the run’s technical partner.

Other notable partners include Umeme Limited, Post Bank, Nation Media Group, Clarkson Insurance Brokers, Capital Markets Authority, Stanbic Bank, and Vision Group, all of whom have joined hands with the Fund in support of this cause.

Encouragement to Participate

Arimi commended all organizations that have partnered with the Fund for the run and encouraged individuals and enterprises to register for participation. The run is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 2nd July 2023, at Kololo Independence grounds, starting at 6 a.m. The route will traverse selected hills of Kampala, covering a distance of 21km.

Registration Details

Groups or organizations interested in participating in the run can register through the NSSF website, https://www.nssfug.org/nssfrun, or at selected Housing Finance Bank branches in Kampala. Individual participants can register and obtain a kit for Ushs 25,000 by dialing 217277# on Airtel or MTN networks.
