A former Didi’s World amusement park, Wonder World Amusement Park is the oldest leisure park in Uganda and it boasts a wide variety of attractions and activities for visitors.
The park was established in 2002 and is located in Kasanga along Ggaba road. For many years in Uganda, Wonderworld was the only leisure park and hub for all kids’ fun activities.
Currently, the park operates only on weekends and public holidays.
Why visit Wonder World Amusement Park
Wonder World Amusement Park features a wide range of thrill rides and games for both children and adults including the pirate ship, merry-go-rounds, octopus rides, train and so much more.
The park also features the largest auditorium in East Africa and a movie theatre called Wonder Cinema. The newest blockbuster movies are shown in this tranquil and modern Cinema Hall.
Activities at Wonder World Amusement Park
Movies at the cinema: At the Wonder cinema, you get to watch the most recent blockbuster movies shown with high-quality sound systems and lighting effects.
Swimming: The water slides into the swimming pool provide both children and adults with a thrilling pool landing. The swimming experience is available for everyone.
There is a section for kids and adults separately.
Comedy show: Get to crack your ribs every Friday at the thrilling stand-up comedy show at the Wonderworld auditorium.
Face painting: Many children love face painting. By bringing them to the park, it is their chance to have a few brush strokes applied on their faces for a more interesting look.
Games at the park
At a fee of UGX 10,000, you get access to all the games and fun rides at Wonder World Amusement Park. However, some machines have gotten spoilt overtime and have not been repaired.
There are less games and fun rides available but the experience is still worth it especially for children.
Children with an abundance of energy like the bumper cars, caterpillar, bouncing castles, octopus ride, merry-go-rounds, pirate ship, train, water slides, and bumper cars, among other attractions.
For parents, this can result in a child who is so fatigued at the end of the day, he or she goes to bed peacefully. The fun rides and games can only be accessed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
How to get to Wonder World Amusement Park
In order to reach Wonder World from Kampala City, board the Kansanga, Bunga, or Ggaba taxi at old taxi Park.
This will cost around UGX 2,000. Just after passing the International University of East Africa campus and entering Kansanga, you will find Wonder World, Amusement Park.
It is located on Soweto Road.
If you are using private means from the city centre, follow Buxton Road and the Sikh Road to Snay Bin Amir Rise.
Then turn left onto Entebbe Road before making a U-turn at Nkrumah Road. Turn left onto Nsambya road and continue straight onto Ggaba road for a distance of 3.5km.
You will see Soweto Road on your right. Turn onto Soweto Road, and within a 300-metre distance, your destination will be on your left.
A number of restaurants serving snacks and meals are located within the park. There is also a bar where alcoholic beverages and soft drinks for children can be purchased.
Prices for a meal of fries and goat meat start at 7,000 UGX. Prices for various alcoholic beverages might reach up to 20,000 UGX.
Accommodation near Wonder World Amusement Park
Wonder World Amusement Park does not have any accommodation facilities within its premises.
However, there are a number of hotels within a 1km distance from the park which can provide top-notch facilities for tourists.
Redsea Hotel Kampala
This 3-star Redsea Hotel Kampala features 45 rooms and is located about 1 km from Wonder World Amusement Park. In addition to a restaurant and luggage storage, the hotel provides a 24-hour security service and ironing services.

The check-in time is from midday up to 9:00 pm while the check-out time is 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

Jolly Court Hotel is located in Kasanga 0.7km from Wonder World Amusement Park. Each of the single, double, and king rooms at the hotel features an en-suite bathroom, a working area, and complimentary WiFi.
The rooms are equipped with a flat-screen television with satellite channels and an ironing board for the guests’ convenience.
In addition to a separate toilet and shower, towels and slippers are supplied for further comfort.
Children below 4 years may stay for free when using existing beds while children below 18 years may stay at the price of USD$ 20 per person per night in an extra bed.
Ssandwiss House offers accommodation with a balcony, approximately 800 metres from Wonder World Amusement Park and offers a garden and free private parking.
The apartment features two bedrooms and a kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, and dining space. Sheets and towels are provided too.
The checking-in and out policies at Ssandwiss are 3:00 pm and 10:00 am respectively.
JD Elegant, Lake and City View Makindye
The JD apartment is a roomy, charming residence with enough parking in a tranquil neighbourhood with a balcony overlooking the city and lake Victoria.
It is only 10 minutes from the heart of Kampala, about 1 km from Wonder World Amusement Park and is in close proximity to restaurants, supermarkets, and clinics, and the security is excellent.
In addition to WiFi, Netflix, and a water heater, the JD apartment features an oven, DSTV and more.
Space Hotel Apartments and Spa
The 3-star Space Hotel Apartments & Spa Kampala is a 15-minute stroll from Wonder World Amusement Park. Guests of this aparthotel may park their vehicles on-site.
