Wejule Abdu Rahman has been arrested by the Directorate of Crime, Intelligence and Lugazi Police in connection with the vicious torture of Njuba Brian, a 40-year-old plumber from Lovely Guest House, Katoogo zone, Gaba Makindye Division.
The Directorate of Crime, Intelligence and Lugazi Police have tracked down and arrested Wejule Abdu Rahman, who is believed to be one of the prime suspects that viciously tortured Njuba Brian, a 40-year-old plumber at Lovely Guest House, Katoogo zone, in Gaba-Makindye Division.
In a statement dated April 4th, Fred Enanga the police spokesperson said the suspect was tracked down using advanced surveillance techniques and arrested in Lugazi.
“Upon a further search at his premises, the victim’s phone, sim card and yellow-T-shirt with “NRM” printed on the back, recovered. Also arrested, is Namaganda Mastula, a receptionist, at Lovely Guest House, who booked the assailants at the Guest House,” Enanga said.
“We have also established that the suspects used her phone, to call Brian Njuba to the Guest House, under the pretext of doing plumbing work. We are now looking for other members of the torture gang.”
He further added that the security team is still on the search to track down all the remaining suspects in a bid to see that justice prevails on the side of the victim, Njuba.
Njuba Brian, 40, a plumber of Lungujja Rubaga Division was last month randomly called by a group of people disguising as clients to a room in Lovely Guest House, located at Katoogo LCI, Gaba Parish in Makindye Division to fix pipes.
According to Fred Enanga the police Spokesperson, upon reaching the room, Njuba was undressed and beaten to the point of losing his consciousness.
“The facts gathered so far, indicate that on the 26.03.2022, at around 10am, a one Njuba Brian, a 40-year-old plumber of Lungujja Rubaga Division, was invited for plumbing work, by a group of suspects who hired a room at Lovely Guest House,” Enanga said last month.
“Upon arrival, he was called to Room 6, where the suspects immediately grabbed and stripped him naked. He was viciously tortured, his testicles tied with ropes, the mouth gagged using stockings, and parts of his body burnt using a hot plastic jerrycan. They robbed his mobile phone and left him for dead.”
The police Spokesperson also revealed then that the victim had zero connection with the strangers implying that they picked him randomly using his contacts advertised on various poles and walls within the division.
“And even if it was not him, they would have called somebody else, whose contacts are openly displayed. Their act therefore, could be a pre-medicated smear campaign for political reasons or otherwise. The experience he went through may haunt him for the rest of his life and his family as well.”
Enanga noted that the horrific act was carefully captured on video and all the faces of the assailants were also concealed. As a quick response, the owner of the Guesthouse and the duty attendant have since been in police detention over the incident.
“The recorder of the video only managed to display a yellow T-shirt with “NRM” at the back, to probably reveal that the assailants subscribe to the NRM Party. We have further established that the suspect’s details, were not captured at the Guest House,” Enanga revealed.
“As a result, both the owner of the Guest House, called Mushabe Brian, and Namagembe Mercy, the duty attendant, were arrested for further investigation, for flouting the security protocols, on guest registration. A serious manhunt for the suspects has already begun and we shall not rest until they are arrested and charged to court.”
